SITS Photo Challenge

Day 6: Lines and Repetition

Day 2: Free Photo Editing and Collage Sites

I ran a little short on time today so I picked one site to work with. Picnik didn’t require any registration and was “quick and dirty”. My type of site. I used the pictures I took yesterday and did some minor editing and made a few collages.

The picture on the left is the original. I did just the basic edits suggested by the tutorial to the pic on the right. I can see a difference.

I found the kookiness slide! I used auto-fix on all of these pictures, messed with the color a little and did some cropping. Here’s what the same pictures look at without the “kookiness”:

Day 1: Composition & Perpective

Yeah, I don’t know about this…

We recently laid sod in our yard and added a few flowers. I figured that since I am not super skilled when it comes to using my camera, maybe I’d start with inanimate objects. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be and I’m not overly impressed with the result (Heck, I’m not even mildly impressed with it). But, I don’t give up easily. Here’s what happened the first time I ever actually considered “composition” or “perspective” when taking a picture.

Vitim 1: The Geranium

Okay, so one of these is supposed to be centered and the other one was an attempt at the whole “rule of thirds” rule thingy. Can you tell the difference? Me either.

Next up: The Planter

Horizontal vs. Vertical? Get it? I’m actually okay with the second one considering the subject.

Let’s mess a little more with perspective. It’s fun.

Looking up, looking down.

Speaking of down, watch things go down hill when I try to get up close:

Well, there you have it; the results of the first day of my first photo challenge. You can see all the glory here: flickr.

Intro:

The ladies at the Secret to Success is Support (SITS: a blogging community) are hosting a two week photo challenge to help bloggers improve their photo snapping skills. I know nothing about photography so I’m excited to learn some technique. Each weekday from April 4 -15, there will be new articles posted on the site. I will be updating this page with my progress.

I like the one on the left in the planter on the wall pair. I think the angle is cool.

Thanks! It’s amazing what angles can do. Those two pictures look totally different.

Good job! I really like the photo with those lovely purple flowers in the pot on the ground. Very nice. 😉

I’m loving the challenge, how about you?

    Peace. 😉
